Broadband For America Responds To Presidential Executive Order
Washington, D.C. – Broadband for America (BfA) Honorary Co-Chairmen John Sununu and Harold E. Ford, Jr. today released the following joint statement in response to President Obama’s Executive Order requesting independent agencies take steps to ensure regulations promote economic growth and job creation:
"The President's Executive Order is an important step toward bridging the divide between America's regulatory infrastructure and private sector innovation. By calling for meaningful regulatory review and streamlining at independent agencies like the Federal Communications Commission, the President is creating a valuable opportunity to ensure that broadband and other service providers have incentives to invest, promote economic growth, and create jobs. Greater regulatory certainty would accelerate our membership's ability to, among other things, build out the next and faster generation of broadband, unleash a new era of job creation from new engineers to programmers to sales people, and grow America's innovation edge. We recognize the efforts undertaken by FCC Chairman Genachowski and the other Commissioners in this area, and look forward to working with them to identify and implement real improvements in the regulatory environment."
