BfA Honorary Co-Chair Michael K. Powell On The 2010 Consumer Electronics Show:
“The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will open today in Las Vegas, NV. The CES is the annual showcase for forward-looking technologies which will be hitting store shelves over the course of the year.
“Many of the products featured in this year’s CES will rely on broadband service to function. Whether it’s an Internet-enabled TV, DVD player with streaming video and music services or the hottest ebook, each of these offerings are broadband dependent.
“The importance of broadband to CES further underscores the fact nearly half of all new jobs created in the U.S. in 2008 were in the broadband/IT sectors.”
