WASHINGTON, DC – Broadband for America’s (BfA) New York Chapter, which includes the Beth Israel Latino Health Institute, the Business Council of New York State, the New York Center for Disability Rights, and the Brooklyn Anti-Violence Coalition as some of its members, today congratulated the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for the hard work and dedication it has shown in developing the National Broadband Plan (NBP).

The below statement was released by Broadband for America (BfA) New York Chapter member Dr. Hector Castro, Medical Director of Beth Israel’s Latino Health Institute:

“I commend Chairman Genachowski and the FCC for actively promoting broadband expansion and increased adoption rates.  It is only with strong leadership on the advocacy of universal broadband that the benefits of broadband can reach its full potential in the healthcare field.  Communication is the key to successful healthcare relationships, whether it is patient to patient, patient to doctor, or doctor to doctor.  Broadband is the key to enhancing this communication and fostering a more responsive and accountable healthcare system.”

Broadband for America (BfA) is a growing coalition of over 200 members ranging from independent consumer advocacy groups, to content and application providers, to the companies which build and maintain the Internet.
