Broadband for America Announces New Members

Charter, Suddenlink & Bright House Networks Join Growing Coalition

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Broadband for America (BfA) announces that three major broadband providers have joined the coalition, which is dedicated to bringing broadband to every home and business in America encouraging continued private-sector investment and competition to make broadband faster, smarter, safer, and ever more valuable to users.

Charter is the fourth largest cable operator in the country providing advanced video, high-speed Internet, and telephone services to approximately 5.3 million residential and business customers in 27 states.

Suddenlink is among the 10 largest U.S. cable broadband companies serving approximately 1.3 million customers offering TV, Internet, and phone services.

Bright House Networks is the 7th largest multiple cable system operator (MSO) in the U.S. with 2.4 million customers in numerous large cities supplying products including digital cable, high-speed Internet, and home phone.

Ted W. Schremp, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Charter said, “Our goal, and that of our peers, is to be able to bring the benefits of broadband to every home and business in our service area.  We are eager to join with our colleagues in this coalition to make this happen.”

“We serve a variety of mid-sized communities across the country and we understand how important broadband access to the Internet is to every American. Simply stated, broadband means greater opportunities and more jobs,” said David Rozzelle, Executive Vice President and Special Assistant to the CEO of Suddenlink.

BfA represents a historic coming together of Internet service providers (ISPs), backbone providers, content providers, consumer groups, commercial groups, end-user organizations, and associations, all sharing the view that America should make broadband access to the Internet available to everyone.
