Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle has asked his state’s legislature budget committee to pass plans that would add fiber connections to schools in 70 districts by the end of the year and 380 public libraries by the end of 2011:

 

The governor says the money will ensure they can meet the need for additional bandwidth and ensure that citizens have equal Internet access "regardless of demographics, geography or economic status."

He says the project will also help businesses, law enforcement agencies and others in the areas where broadband will be installed. Read the full Business Week story here.
