Virginia’s Page County Wins Rural Broadband Grant
The Page County Broadband Authority, which is a member of the Broadband for America (BfA) Virginia Chapter, has been awarded a $1.6 million dollar grant to deploy a 39-mile fiber network to serve four towns in the rural Shenandoah region of western Virginia.
According to the grant announcement from the U.S. Department of Commerce, “The network expects to directly connect 29 anchor institutions including, 11 K-12 schools, three libraries, six healthcare facilities, Lord Fairfax Community College, and eight public safety institutions.”
The grant came from funds allocated to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) of the Department of Commerce. The Page County Broadband Authority had to compete against “more than 1,800 applications” from around the nation.
Bernie Miller, Chairman of the Page County Broadband Authority, said that with the network, Page County “can build an economic base for jobs, opportunities and quality of life, which is what the Broadband Authority was created to.”

I have a fiber and cable placing company that works nationwide.
We have done jobs in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri,
Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Alabama, Georgia, and Flordia. Worked for
Verizon, Cox, Time Warner, Dept. of Transportation, Long Lines, Comcast,
Owest, AT&T, CCI, Hartco, LanTel, Gayman, Klaasmeyer, Mastic and others.
We mostly pull or blow fiber and do aerial, I have several boreing,
companies I use when needed. Our advantage is where a lot of companies just
want to do the boreing, trenching and plowing and sub out the fiber pulling
or blowing we can bid the fiber placment at a lower price directly with you
and they will not have to shut down their boreing to place fiber. We have
worked on a lot of FTTP projects also placing fiber behind the boreing crews
setting hand holes and Inner Duct in Pipe.
As owner I stay on jobs most of the time but a member of our managment
team is always on the job location to give you a daily report on progress.
We make sure to QC all our work before it is turned over to you as completed.
I look foreward to working with you on your fiber placing needs and will
give you a professional and productive job. Thank you for your time and hope
to hear from you very soon.
