The Technology Policy Institute’s Aspen Forum brought together leaders from all sectors of the technology industry to discuss current policies and what the future of innovation means for America. Panel discussions at the two-day conference covered a variety of topics such as privacy, cybersecurity, social media impact and global Internet use. One panel featured familiar faces for Broadband for America. President of NCTA and former Broadband for America Co-Chairman, Michael Powell; Kathy Brown, Senior Vice President of Public Policy Development and Corporate Responsibility at Verizon; and Joe Waz of Comcast participated in the telecommunications discussion. Their panel, "A Discussion with Media and Telecom Leaders", can be viewed here.

Throughout the Aspen Forum, many influential voices weighed-in on the current technology policy climate and how decisions on Capitol Hill will affect innovation and growth. Danny Weitzner, Chief Technology Officer for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, remarked during a Monday panel discussion, "The directions we take on privacy policy will be critical for the growth of the Internet economy and the continued innovation in the Internet space." At Monday evening’s dinner address, Peter Thiel, President of Clarium Capital, put the pressure on lawmakers, saying "The pace of innovation has significantly slowed down in the United States and Washington, D.C. isn’t doing much to speed it up."

TPI Aspen wrapped up the conference with an informal session led by FCC Commissioners, Robert McDowell and Mignon Clyburn. To view the "Conversation with the Commissioners", click here.
