Among many industries noted in President Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday night, a considerable amount of emphasis was placed on the wireless industry and its ability to stimulate job creation and improve public services. "This isn’t just about a faster Internet and fewer dropped calls. It’s about connecting every part of America to the digital age," stated the President.

The President noted the importance of even the most remote areas getting sufficient wireless coverage as well as public safety officials gaining access to mobile broadband. He also addressed the capability for wireless to enhance our education and healthcare systems. Looking to the future, President Obama set a goal of "covering 98 percent of Americans with 4G mobile broadband connections in the next five years".

The SOTU was carefully

The SOTU was carefully crafted to promote this theme of supposed Republican obstructionism. Over and over, the President uttered vague rhetorical flourishes, and then demanded that Congress somehow turn this rhetoric into legislation that he can sign. -Dr. Paul Perito
