The internet should be open and secure. Unfortunately, a vast majority of Americans do not understand what is going on with Net Neutrality. What happened with Comcast/Bit Torrent is just a sample of what the internet could become without the the Senate passing legislation that would protect consumers from being downgraded to the "slow lane", and for protection against giants, like Comcast, Verizon, and At& t, from deciding which content to discriminate against.

American people have it backwards. It is the Giant telecoms and Cable companies that are attempting to make rules where they can discriminate against websites, forbid certain applications, create a fast lane/slow lane, and basically use "market power" to pollute the internet environment. It will cause the internet, which btw is a work STILL in progress, to potentially lose much of its open source environment.

Some regulations are needed to protect the people. An example of what happens when Regulation is compromised is the Banking and Finance sector. The deregulation (specifically of Acts, like Glass Steagal) were the main cause of the 2008 economic bank crisis, which we are still in the midst of, and will be with us for the next two or three generations.

The big Money can delute information and actually make Americans believe that the way to keep the internet the same is to allow Big corporate interests like Comcast, which was caught lying about their throttling of Bit Torrent, to do what they want....It will not work that way....Mark my words.

I am not a big advocate of the politicians of either Dems or Repubs....Big government. But to keep things open we have to have some regulations to make sure these Giants don't start shutting down segments of the internet that compete directly with them, or sites that do not have the 'correct' political ideology.

You don't regulate, you won't have the internet "as we know it".

It's that simple. Please research the past few years on this subject before deciding. You will be surprised exactly who is the ones trying to control and monopolize the internet.

Now, if you want to talk about "kill switch" to internet, then I am totally against that.
