A recent survey of global physicians suggests that enthusiasm and support for health IT systems increases as more physicians begin using the tools in their practices. Routine health IT users rated the overall benefits of health IT more positively than their peers who are less actively involved with the technologies, according to the survey.

The majority of doctors in all countries surveyed agreed that health IT does provide top benefits, including better access to quality data for clinical research (70.9 percent), improved coordination of care (69.1 percent) and a reduction in medical errors (66 percent). Although the data did show a generational divide – those under age 50 more likely to believe health IT has a positive impact on the industry – the survey indicated that the more health IT functions physicians use the more positive they are about the benefits.
