According to a new survey from the Pew Research Center, minority groups continue to sign up for Twitter at higher rates and are twice as likely to be active on the site than the general population. Findings of the report show 25 percent of black Web users and 19 percent of Hispanics are on Twitter, while only 9 percent of whites use the micro-blogging service.

Overall, the report showed an increase in Twitter adoption over the past year. The accessibility of the service on mobile devices is noted as a contributing factor as half of adults use their mobile phone to access their Twitter accounts.
