Hotels Focus on Generation Y

Hotels are turning their focus to a new audience: Generation Y, customers in their 20s to mid-30s, who are heavy users with technology, social media and design. The hotel and tourism industry were hit particularly hard by the recession, and hotels believe that this target audience is the key to helping bounce back. In addition to remodeling, hotels have also introduced technology to lure in Generation Y. Many hotels are offering hotel wide Wi-Fi connections, and in-room power consoles to plug in iPads, laptops and other devices.
Hoteliers are also incorporating technology into marketing and communications through social networks, online advertising and e-promotions.
