In recent weeks, numerous cyberattacks have hit the websites of major companies and organizations. These attacks are among the hundreds of online security breaches which have occurred this year alone. Considering the threats, it is unsurprising there is a concern over Internet security in America. Some progress is being made to ramp up security efforts in the United States. Security experts are deploying a new worldwide system which will identify Internet address, making it difficult to forge a Website. Additionally, the administration has proposed legislation with provisions to ensure that companies running on critical infrastructure have the necessary systems to reduce the risk of cyberattacks.
As a New York Times editorial points out, "online security is continuously evolving as hackers and security experts work to outwit each other". Taking a proactive approach to cybersecurity rather than considering solutions in hindsight, will better prepare companies and government agencies to deal with future security breaches.
