Broadband Technology Keeps White House Open for Business

The massive snowstorm that has blanketed Washington DC all week has caused a federal government shutdown at a cost to taxpayers of $100 million a day. However, there is a bright spot being created by broadband in the White House. High-speed Internet technology is allowing the White House staff to work remotely, keeping many of the West Wing’s functions at near or full capacity:
“Thanks to modern technology that has not been an issue,” Jen Psaki, a White House spokeswoman, wrote in an e-mail. Icy roads and heavy snows have left a number of White House staffers unable to get to the West Wing, but they’ve been able to work remotely, according to Psaki.
