Millions of seniors continue to go without the basic ability to connect with their families online.  In an age where the Internet has the ability to empower digital citizens, broadband access and adoption is crucial across all demographics.   According to the National Institute on Aging, seniors are sometimes forgotten when picturing America’s online community.  Companies, like Virtual Interactive Families (VIFamilies), are taking innovative strides to bring senior citizens to the forefront as digital citizens, but experience challenges when basic Internet accessibility becomes a problem.

Through meaningful life engaging interactions, the quality of life for seniors can be improved upon.  However, the ability to virtually connect online is deterred when broadband Internet access is unavailable.  In the age of digital citizens, broadband Internet access is an essential resource for any family that empowers individuals of all ages.  Broadband access can bring virtual adventures to life, transcend miles of separation, and provide equity for all individuals to experience a higher quality of life. Today, broadband Internet accessibility is a basic need for everyone, including seniors.
