As faster networks are set up and more technology is available to access broadband capabilities, mobile data subscriptions are set to double from 500 million in 2010 to 1 billion connections in 2011. Smartphones, tablets, and laptops have all contributed to the rising number of subscriptions. In addition to the overall increase in mobile data plans, the amount of data customers are consuming is also growing due to streaming video content and surfing the Web on mobile devices.
